Build Your 2013 Resolution Team
By Russell Benaroya
We are launching our 2013 Resolution Team Challenge today, making it fun to connect and work towards keeping our resolutions together – and giving you the opportunity to win a free Fitbit!
On January 1st, more than 50% of Americans will raise a toast to something in common – New Year’s resolutions. Within two months, nearly 40% will have broken those resolutions. We are launching this challenge to directly address the reasons that people give up on their resolutions. What keeps New Year Resolutions intact are measurement, feedback, and friends – and The 2013 Resolution Team Challenge provides all three!
We tackle measurement. EveryMove is the one place where your healthy activity can be aggregated across a variety of activities and applications. You can see your points accumulate and watch your physical activities turn into great rewards.
Feedback is a piece of cake at EveryMove. You get feedback from your friends. You get feedback in the form of rewards you can earn from retailers, your health plan and brands. You get feedback from us on your progress.
And with the 2013 Resolution Team Challenge, teamwork, friendship and fitness go hand-in-hand. Participants form small teams of up to 10 friends who encourage one another to stay active and stick to their resolutions. Teammates can help one another earn points for their activities, which helps amplify points earned as an individual.
Points earned by January 31, 2013, can be redeemed for a Fitbit Zip. Earn enough points with your team and the Fitbit Zip is free.
For those of you who don’t know about Fitbit, it is a really cool personal tracker that makes it easy to capture the number of steps you take throughout the day, and have that information flow into your EveryMove account without any manual entry. Fitbits are fun because they give you a good indicator of fundamental movement (steps). Over time (and especially when connected to EveryMove), you’ll start seeing patterns and won’t want to take another step unless you know your Fitbit is going to capture it. (Plus you get extra points on EveryMove when your activity is captured through a mobile application or device.)
The 2013 Resolution Team Challenge reinforces a commitment we made when we started EveryMove – to spark a movement to impact the lives of 10 million people. We believe that together we have the opportunity to impact and encourage each other to make healthy lifestyle choices – and to do it much better than the messages we may hear from media, our government or our health insurance plans. You can count on us to continue making it easier for you to show that your healthy lifestyle matters. We will continue to bring companies to you that want to support your activity and we will do everything we can to give you the voice to be recognized for your greatness.
